Toddler Storytime for Frogs! With Fingerplays, Books, and Songs

Hello!  This week's Storytime involved frogs!  There is still quite a bit of snow left in Maine, but soon it will be time for tadpoles.

For Storytime, we listened to books by a few of my favorite authors, Karma Wilson and Ellen Stoll Walsh.  The frog songs were especially fun.  All week, I found myself humming "Five Green and Speckled Frogs."

If you would like to see what happened this week or would like to reserve a book, just click the link below!

Hanky Panky
Down by the banks of the hanky panky, (pat legs with rhythm)
Where the bullfrogs jump from bank to banky (alternate pats to each side)
With a hip, hop, hippity hop
Jump off the lilypad (lift arms)
Kerplop! (big CLAP!)

On a Log
On a log, 5# frogs sat (hold up 5 fingers)
And they joked and they croaked about this and that (wave hand)
A slithery smily snake came by (wave other hand as snake)
And gobbled one up (snap up finger)
In the wink of an eye!
(repeat for remaining fingers)

Five Green and Speckled Frogs
Five green and speckled frogs
Sat on the speckled log
Eating the most delicious bugs (Yum Yum)
One jumped into the pool
Where it was nice and cool
Now there are # green speckled frogs (Ribbit Ribbit)

Goodbye Song
Goodbye (x2) Have a nice day (x2)
Have a nice day today
