All students are invited to join the
Summer Reading Club by signing a contract to read a certain number of
books. Children may sign up as a reader
or listener, or both. There are lots of prizes!
Registration begins June 23rd. Unless stated, all programs are for all
ages.
FROGTOWN
MOUNTAIN PUPPETEERS: Monday, June 23rd at 2 PM
We are thrilled to kick off our
Summer Reading Program with the fantastic
Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers! This
is a small puppetry troupe based in Bar Harbor, Maine, and comprised of three
siblings — Erik, Brian, and Robin Torbeck. They write all of their shows and perform
with their handmade puppets. They will be performing Everybody Loves Pirates.
This is the story of a young girl named Lucy out on a quest to find her
fortune! Unfortunately, Lucy and her friends run into a group of bumbling
pirates who try to thwart their efforts by stealing the treasure !
SCIENCE STORY TIME WITH DIANA: Every Tuesday at 11 AM
If you like Miss Frizzle you are going to love Diana! Be amazed with fun experiments to perform and of course stories to listen to! For children 5 and up.
MOTHER GOOSE STORY TIME WITH MEGAN: Every Wednesday at 10:15. This lively program is for our youngest patrons! This 20 minute story time is just for them with books, bouncy rhymes, flannel boards and songs! This gives our youngest patrons the chance to develop language and social skills, plus gives Moms and Dads a chance to socialize! Stop by and shake your sillies out! For ages 0-24 months.
TINY TOT STORY TIME: Every Wednesday at 11 AM
This energetic program is filled with stories, flannel boards, crafts, and best of all, the Hokey Pokey! Tiny Tots gives children a place to socialize, further develop language or motor skills, and encourages their love of books! For ages 2 – 4.

Chef Shane will demonstrate some great new recipes and offer interesting facts about how the ingredients work together to create some great eats! Recipes will be provided so you can then go home and experiment with the recipes yourselves!

No holiday or celebration at the Library is ever complete without one of Jody's famous Cheese balls. Guess what? She is willing to share her secret recipe and, along with her sidekick Christine, will help you decorate them in creative and fun ways. Yummers!
CRAFTING WITH MARYANN: Mondays at 11 AM
Join us for Science Craft Time. Every week will feature fun facts from the world of science followed by a craft! Examples include, magnetism (make a fish swim without water), metamorphosis (butterflies make great art subjects), and engineering (toothpicks and mini-marshmallow fun).
RED, WHITE & BLUE DAY: Thursday, July 3 at 11 AM
Celebrate American ingenuity! Bob and Joe Switzer experimented years before finding the formula for creating colors which could glow in sunlight. Come learn about the Switzers, colors, day-glo paint. Crafts, songs and ice cream!
SCIENCE IN HISTORY WITH BILL COOK: Thursday, July 10 at 11 AM
Luck + genius = serendpity. From Isaac Newton's sudden grasp of gravity to Alexander Fleming's chance development of penicillin. Bill Cook will demonstrate and talk about the practice of medicine in the 1860’s, the time of the American Civil War. Medicine was at a crossroads during this period, and was evolving from an experience based profession to one based in science.
GEO-CACHING WITH JIM LANZIKOS: Thursday, July 31 at 11 AM
Looking for an adventure? Why not try the high tech sport of geocaching! Join local cachers for a hands-on program that will get you started. You will be able to create a geocaching account (parent needed for permission) and have your first "find" before we're done!

Register your experiment by August 1 in the Children's Department. All children are invited to attend and ask questions to the exhibitors!
