Lion Vs. Rabbit by Alex Latimer

Book CoverLion is a bully. When the other animals post an online ad for someone to stand up to him, a rabbit is one of the applicants who answer their plea for help. In various contests of brain versus brawn , Rabbit outwits Lion every time. Finally, Lion concedes and promises not be a bully anymore. But how did Rabbit win? A clever twist at the end will surprise and delight everyone.
I really enjoy this book. The illustrations were great and the subtle references to pop culture were fantastic. For example, when Baboon is posting the want ad, there is a pop-up ad that says: Make money from the comfort of your own burrow. This book is great for ages 5 and up.

The Lion and the Little Red Bird by Elisa Kleven

book jacket
This is a sweet story about the friendship between a curious red bird and an gentle, artistic lion. The bird wonders why the lion's tail keeps changing colors, but the lion doesn't understand her. When he rescues the bird from a storm, she discovers the lion's secret. I really liked the various kinds of art median decorated throughout the entire book, and the story is very gentle, perfect for bedtime. Great for children of all ages.
